Befriend Uncertainty

Poetry reading from "Personal Shifts, a poetic journey through post-normal times".
1

Is it possible to befriend uncertainty?

I became a Christian because I lost hope in humanity.

I chose to give my power away, wash away responsibility,

for the coming death of this World.

Christianity worn off my changing skin,

I studied the future to gain more control,

To be empowered, more engaged in the cocreation of this World.

Both paths led to the same realisation.

Life is uncertain. Our locus of control lies within.

The fabrication of our own fictions.

Laugh or cry into the next moment.

Anchored by a longing for connection.

Anchored by a purposeful “we” that makes the uncertainty,

a joyful friend rather than a foe to be feared.

Befriend uncertainty. Befriend myself. Befriend humanity.

Befriend Land, Sky and Waters.

Befriend evolution.

Befriend regeneration.

Befriend Uncertainty (2023/10/14) in Personal Shifts, a poetic journey through post-normal times.

Inspired by the sudden announcement of an organisational structure in the City of Parramatta where I worked, and my reflection on my past motivations for being a Pentecostal Fundamentalist Christian and then skeptical student of Futures Studies and now a Regenerative Futures Practitioner.
