Empires

Empires roll across the Earth flattening hearts.

Kneading out peoples into a plain pastry,

of conformity, crushing rising upstarts.

A standardised worldview, ever so tasty.

Eat our bread of control with your counterparts,

or die violently, alone, wiped from our charts.

Over time, as resilient hearts persuade,

all maps of hegemony collapse and fade.

Empires (31/10/2018) in Planetary Shifts, a poetic journey through post-normal times.

Empires seek to create hegemony – cultural norms to unify and control diverse populations. All empires eventually collapse to be replaced with new unifying systems (e.g.: social networks).
